CKD Stage Calculator
Result
Classify an entered eGFR into G1–G5 filtration categories; category alone does not diagnose chronic kidney disease.
Formula
- Enter an eGFR value in mL/min/1.73 m² to see its filtration category: G1 (90 or above), G2 (60–89), G3a (45–59), G3b (30–44), G4 (15–29), or G5 (below 15). The result is category-only: the calculator does not check whether changes persist at least three months, urine albumin, other markers of kidney damage, clinical context, or diagnostic requirements. A G1 or G2 result by itself does not mean CKD. Negative, implausible or improperly measured values are not clinically interpretable; seek a healthcare professional for evaluation.
- The main inputs are eGFR. Enter them in the units and format shown in the calculator.
- Use the measurement units shown beside each field. The result is an estimate and should be interpreted in context.
- Changing any input above recalculates the result with the same calculation engine used by this page.
Example: CKD Stage
- eGFR: 75 mL/min/1.73m²
Using eGFR (mL/min/1.73m²) = 75, the calculated result is G2.

Frequently asked questions
What does the CKD Stage calculate?
Classify an entered eGFR into G1–G5 filtration categories; category alone does not diagnose chronic kidney disease.
Which values should I enter?
Enter eGFR using the units and format shown beside each field.
What formula does this calculator use?
The calculator uses the following relationship: eGFR filtration-category lookup: G1 for eGFR >= 90; G2 for 60 <= eGFR < 90; G3a for 45 <= eGFR < 60; G3b for 30 <= eGFR < 45; G4 for 15 <= eGFR < 30; G5 for eGFR < 15 (eGFR in mL/min/1.73 m²). The input should be a physiologically meaningful, nonnegative eGFR. A G-category alone DOES NOT establish chronic kidney disease. CKD assessment requires kidney-abnormality persistence for at least three months and clinical evidence, including albuminuria and other markers; G1 and G2 alone are not a diagnosis. This tool is an eGFR category lookup, not medical advice, a diagnosis, or individual prognosis..
Why might my result differ from another source?
Results can differ because measurement methods, rounding and assumptions vary. This calculator is an estimate and is not a medical diagnosis.
Does the result update automatically?
Yes. Changing an input updates the result using the same calculation engine shown on this page.
