Diet Risk Score
Result
Calculate a transparent, illustrative weighted dietary-pattern score. Not a validated diet-risk score or disease-risk estimate.
Formula
- Enter counts of red-meat servings, processed-food servings, sugary drinks, and fruit-and-vegetable servings for a consistent period. The result is a simple arithmetic index (2 × red meat + 3 × processed foods + sugary drinks − 0.2 × fruit and vegetables). These weights are assumptions, not a validated risk model. A higher or lower value cannot reliably quantify your health or disease risk. Negative scores are mathematically possible.
- The main inputs are Red meat servings, Processed servings, Sugary drinks, Fruit & veg servings. Enter them in the units and format shown in the calculator.
- Use the measurement units shown beside each field. The result is an estimate and should be interpreted in context.
- Changing any input above recalculates the result with the same calculation engine used by this page.
Example: Diet Risk Score
- Red meat servings: 3
- Processed servings: 2
- Sugary drinks: 4
- Fruit & veg servings: 10
Using Red meat servings = 3, Processed servings = 2, Sugary drinks = 4, Fruit & veg servings = 10, the calculated result is Risk score: 14.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Diet Risk Score calculate?
Calculate a transparent, illustrative weighted dietary-pattern score. Not a validated diet-risk score or disease-risk estimate.
Which values should I enter?
Enter Red meat servings, Processed servings, Sugary drinks, Fruit & veg servings using the units and format shown beside each field.
What formula does this calculator use?
The calculator uses the following relationship: Custom illustrative arithmetic index = 2 × entered red-meat servings + 3 × entered processed-food servings + entered sugary-drink servings − 0.2 × entered fruit-and-vegetable servings. Coefficients are invented fixed weights in the current engine, NOT an externally validated diet-risk or clinical prediction model. Inputs should be nonnegative counts measured over the same timeframe. The score can be negative and does not have validated risk thresholds; it must not be interpreted as disease probability..
Why might my result differ from another source?
Results can differ because measurement methods, rounding and assumptions vary. This calculator is an estimate and is not a medical diagnosis.
Does the result update automatically?
Yes. Changing an input updates the result using the same calculation engine shown on this page.
