Overlapping ranges may produce several candidates. Out-of-range measurements need another product or chart. No nearest-size recommendation is invented.
Measuring & sizing notes
- Sizes vary by product: a Medium in one model can be a Small in another.
- Neck circumference does not measure pressure or pulling force.
- Do not choose a loose harness to leave room for growth.
- Check the harness after movement and follow the maker’s adjustment guide.
Frequently asked questions
Where should I measure?
Use a soft tape while your dog stands. Measure the widest rib-cage area and lower neck where specified by the exact product. Follow the manufacturer’s diagram.
What if my dog is between sizes?
Follow that product’s policy. For Front Range, Ruffwear advises the larger size between sizes. This does not establish a universal rule for other products.
Should I size up for a puppy?
Fit the puppy now, with appropriate adjustment. Recheck often. An oversized harness can slip or allow escape.
