Archery Draw Length
Measure your wingspan. Find your starting fit.
Estimated draw length
Arm span: 170 cm / 66.9 in
Measure the span. Check the draw.
Stand naturally. Keep the tape level; ask another person to measure. Generated illustration; not to scale.

At the anchor position
The drawing hand reaches a consistent anchor near the face. A coach checks posture, anchor and equipment fit together. Generated illustration; not a measured fitting example.
From estimate to equipment fit
Draw length (inches). This ruler is not a fit rating.
Confirm the draw stop and supported module settings.
Confirm anchor, posture and actual draw with a coach.
Compound selected: confirm the manufacturer’s supported settings with a qualified technician.
Before choosing equipment
- Repeat the wingspan measurement consistently.
- Confirm full-draw fit with the actual bow and release setup.
- Use the bow manufacturer’s adjustment procedure.
Calculation & assumptions
Draw length (in) = wingspan (in) ÷ 2.5
170 ÷ 2.54 ÷ 2.5 = 26.7717… in → 26.8 in
Rounded reference = round(draw length ÷ increment) × increment
round(26.7717 ÷ 0.5) × 0.5 = 27.0 in
The bow style changes fitting guidance and the static guide, not the wingspan formula. No intermediate rounding. Half-step ties round upward for these positive inputs.
What the estimate cannot tell you
The wingspan method is a starting approximation. Posture, anchor point, release aid and individual proportions can change measured full-draw fit. A rounded number does not confirm that a specific bow supports that setting.
The 80–250 cm input bounds are software plausibility checks, not a validated age range. The diagrams are schematic, not a personalized biomechanical reconstruction or a manufacturer-specific mechanism.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my wingspan?
Hold your arms out horizontally at shoulder height in a relaxed T shape. Ask someone to measure from one middle fingertip to the other with the tape level. Enter the measurement with the correct unit.
Is 27.0 in my final bow setting?
No. It is a rounded starting reference from the wingspan estimate. Confirm actual draw length, supported increments and adjustment procedure with a qualified bow technician or coach.
Does this work for recurve and compound?
The wingspan estimate is the same. Compound fit depends on supported draw-stop/module settings; recurve fit depends on consistent anchor and technique rather than a universal mechanical stop.
Is draw length the same as arrow length?
No. Do not cut arrows to this estimate. Arrow length and clearance depend on the bow and arrow-rest setup and should be checked separately by a qualified archery professional.
Does the image confirm my draw length?
No. The image illustrates an anchor position. It cannot measure your body, assess your technique or confirm a safe equipment setting. Ask a qualified coach or bow technician to check your fit.
