Albumin Unit Converter
Convert albumin concentration between g/dL and g/L.
Choose the direction that matches the unit on your report.
Your albumin result
Before you convert
Check the test name and unit on your report.
This tool converts concentration units only; it does not convert albumin/creatinine ratios.
Converted albumin
4 g/dL × 10
Same concentration, different unit
1 g/dL = 10 g/L
The number changes because a decilitre is one tenth of a litre.
How is this calculated?
Equipment guide

Read the value
Use the albumin concentration printed on the report.

Check the unit
Choose g/dL or g/L before converting.

Match the test
Ratios such as mg/g need a different calculation.
Calculation & assumptions
g/L = g/dL × 10
g/dL = g/L ÷ 10
The factor is exact. Display rounding does not add measurement precision. No age or sex inputs are needed.
Frequently asked questions
What does this converter calculate?
It converts the same albumin mass concentration between grams per decilitre (g/dL) and grams per litre (g/L). It does not measure albumin or interpret a laboratory result.
Why is the conversion factor 10?
The prefix deci means one tenth: 1 dL = 0.1 L. Therefore a concentration of 1 gram per decilitre is 10 grams per litre. The factor 10 is exact.
Can I convert in both directions?
Yes. Multiply a value in g/dL by 10 to obtain g/L, or divide a value in g/L by 10 to obtain g/dL. Switching direction preserves the same concentration and updates the input unit and worked calculation.
Does this tell me whether albumin is normal?
No. This is a unit conversion. Use the reference range printed on your own report and discuss interpretation with your healthcare professional. Changing the unit does not change the measured concentration.
Can I use an albumin/creatinine ratio?
No. Albumin/creatinine ratios such as mg/g or mg/mmol are different quantities. This converter accepts only mass concentrations in g/dL or g/L.

What does the Albumin Unit calculate?
It expresses an albumin concentration in the other supported mass-per-volume unit. A value of 4 g/dL is exactly 40 g/L.
Which values should I enter?
Enter the albumin value and select the direction matching the unit on your report. Use g/dL or g/L only. The software accepts non-negative finite concentrations up to 1,000,000,000 g/L equivalent, with at most 50 significant digits and a supported decimal exponent. Very small values must remain representable as a positive JavaScript number. These are software bounds, not clinical reference ranges.
What formula does this calculator use?
g/L = g/dL × 10; g/dL = g/L ÷ 10. The conversion shifts the decimal position exactly and does not use a molecular weight or a biological estimation formula.
Why might my result differ from another source?
Check the input unit, conversion direction and display rounding. The unit factor is exact; this tool does not add precision to the original measurement. Values expressed in other quantities such as albumin/creatinine ratio cannot be compared by this factor.
Does the result update automatically?
Yes. Editing the input or selecting the other conversion direction immediately updates the result and worked steps. Invalid inputs clear numerical results and disable exports. Both direction cards remain visible.
